Online workshop

About the workshop

“Man has extraordinary capacities, and those capacities are limited by thought. And if thought is given its right place, it releases a tremendous energy, not to do more mischief, but to live a life in which there is no shadow of conflict, a life that is supremely excellent, a life that has this extraordinary quality of compassion, love. That is why one has to understand the nature of thought.”

“One is able to read other people’s thoughts. They are experimenting with that in Russia… If you can read my thoughts and I can read your thoughts then life becomes terribly complex and rather tiresome. They have experimented with this in Duke University in America, they have proved telepathy exists, that thought can control matter and so on. This is the old Indian tradition. Perhaps K has done some of these things but is this all important?”

“Thought with its limitation has a certain quality of intelligence, otherwise we couldn’t be sitting here. You need intelligence to travel, to go to the moon… and the dynamo, motors and so on. Immense energy, a great deal of thought, knowledge, has gone into all this and therefore there is that quality of limited intelligence because it is based essentially on thought, or knowledge. And is there an intelligence which is not limited?”

J. Krishnamurti

Thinking has always been the most important aspect of human life. In fact, thinking capacity is what differentiates human beings from animals. Thought has developed technology which has changed the way human beings live. At the same time thought has also created innumerable problems in human relationships. What is thinking? Why has it helped in technological field but created lots of problems in psychological field? What is the nature of human thought? How does it differ from the thought of the machines? Is artificial intelligence going to control human beings? In what way artificial intelligence is different from the human intelligence? How to think so that thought works in our favour and does not create problems? What are the basic principles of thinking process? How are time, thought and memory related? Are there aspects of human life which are beyond the reach of thought? All these and many more questions regarding thought and related matters will be explored in this workshop. The intent is to find out in what way this important capacity can be used to better our life without creating problems. By the end of this workshop, it is expected that a participant will be fairly able to find right place of thought in his daily life and also enquire about the realms beyond thought.
