14 – 15 October 2023

Online workshop

Murbad, Thane district

About the workshop

“Relationship is to all things–to nature, the birds, the rocks, to everything around us and above us–to the clouds, the stars and to the blue sky. All existence is relationship. Without it you cannot live. Because we have corrupted relationship, we live in a society that is degenerating.”

“Capacity to understand life comes into being only when one understands relationship. Relationship is a mirror. It must reflect, not as one wishes oneself to be, ideally or romantically, but what one actually is, and it is very difficult to perceive oneself as one actually is, because one is so accustomed to escaping from what is; it is arduous to perceive, to observe silently what is, because one is so used to condemning, justifying, comparing, identifying. And in that process of justification, condemnation, that which is, is not understood. Only in the understanding of what is, is there freedom from what is.”

“Relationship is the art of living. If there is remembrance in relationship, it is not relationship. Relationship is between human beings, not their memories. It is these memories that divide and so there is contention, the opposition of the you and the me. So thought, which is remembrance, has no place whatsoever in relationship. This is the art of living.”

J. Krishnamurti

Every living being is constantly interacting with his environment. This interaction is his life and also his relationship with the environment. The interaction is not static but constantly changing, modifying itself. Hence life is a movement in relationship. What is the nature of human relationship? Why is there so much conflict in it? What is the root cause of this conflict? Why have human beings not been able to resolve this problem of relationship though technologically so much advanced? How does one learn about oneself in the mirror of relationship? The basic purpose of this workshop is to understand human relationship and the allied phenomena. What is the significance of marriage? What is falling in love? How does habit operate in relationship? Why does one feel so lonely? Why is knowledge destructive in human relationship? Why has sex become a major occupation and a problem for many human beings? What is true relationship and how does it come about? All such and many more questions will be explored in this workshop. The intent is to explore and understand human relationship in different contexts, e.g. husband-wife, parent-children, teacher-student, employee-employer, individual-society, man-environment, etc. By the end of this workshop, it is expected that the participant will have fairly understood the nature of his relationship with others and will start working towards establishing right relationship with everything around him which is right living. Various selections from Krishnamurti’s works relevant to the theme of this workshop will be provided as a reading material to each participant. Also links to the relevant videos of Krishnamurti will be provided. Each participant is expected to devote these two days fully to the study in order to benefit maximum from this workshop.
