About the workshop

“Truth is neither evil nor good,
Truth is neither love nor hate,
Truth is neither the pure nor the impure,
Truth is neither holy nor unholy,
Truth is neither simple nor complex,
Truth is neither of heaven nor hell,
Truth is neither moral nor immoral,
Truth is neither of the God nor of the devil,
Truth is neither virtue nor vice,
Truth is neither birth nor death,
Truth is neither in religion nor without religion.
Truth is as the waters – it wanders,
It has no resting place. For Truth is Life.
I saw the mountain come down to the valley.”

“K: Now take for instance what happened. In 1928 I happened to be the head of a tremendous organisation, a religious organisation, and I saw around me various religious organisations, sects, Catholic, Protestant, and I saw all trying to find truth. So I said, ‘No organisation can lead man to truth.’ So I dissolved it. Property, an enormous business. I can never go back to it. When you see something as poison you won’t take it again. It isn’t that you say, ‘By Jove, I’ve made a mistake. I should go back and…’ It is, sir, like seeing danger. When you see danger you never go near it again.”

“I can’t go to truth, I can’t see truth. Truth can only exist, can be, or is only when the self is not.”

“Truth cannot be revealed through a book, through a person, through an idea, through a ceremony, or having faith. Truth has to be found, not to be told about it. Therefore, there must be complete freedom.”

“I maintain that Truth is a pathless land, and you cannot approach it by any path whatsoever, by any religion, by any sect… Truth, being limitless, unconditioned, unapproachable by any path whatsoever, cannot be organized; nor should any organization be formed to lead or to coerce people along any particular path… Truth cannot be brought down; rather, the individual must make the effort to ascend to it. You cannot bring the mountaintop to the valley. If you would attain to the mountaintop you must pass through the valley, climb the steeps, unafraid of the dangerous precipices. You must climb toward the Truth, it cannot be “stepped down” or organized for you.”

J. Krishnamurti

Krishnamurti began his function as the World Teacher on August 2, 1929 when he dissolved the Order of the Star, returned back all the wealth and property to the donors and said that Truth is a pathless land and no organisation could lead man to Truth. This statement remained as the core of Krishnamurti’s teaching throughout his Teachings. In this study workshop, the participants will be studying the full speech which Krishnamurti gave on that occasion and explore his various statements on Truth made during his various talks and dialogues. Why is there no path to Truth? How is one to come upon it? Why no organisation can lead one to Truth? Why was the Order of the Star dissolved? In what way the Truth is related to the reality of our day-to-day life? All such and many more similar questions will be explored in this workshop. Some passages related to the theme and selected from Krishnamurti’s works will be provided as reading material to each participant. Also links to the relevant videos of Krishnamurti will be provided. Each participant is expected to devote these two days fully to the study in order to benefit maximum from this workshop.
