About the workshop

“Truth cannot be exact. What can be measured is not truth. That which is not living can be measured”

“I can’t go to truth, I can’t see truth. Truth can only exist, can be, or is only when the self is not.”

“Surely, truth is not something distant, truth is in the little things of everyday life, in every word, in every smile, in every relationship, only we do not know how to see it.”

“If you listen to truth and you don’t act on it, it acts as poison.”

“There is no path to truth, and there are not two truths. Truth is not of the past, or of the present, it is timeless; and the man who quotes the truth of the Buddha, of Sankara, of the Christ, or who merely repeats what I am saying, will not find truth, because repetition is not truth. Repetition is a lie. Truth is a state of being which arises when the mind – which seeks to divide, to be exclusive, which can think only in terms of results, of achievement – has come to an end. Only then will there be truth.”

“It is only truth that deconditions completely, and to see the truth of ‘what is’ requires an enormous attention.”

“Truth cannot be through any path, it is a pathless land. You can’t go through any system, through any method, through any form of meditation to reach that. There is really no reaching, it is.”

“Clever people have invented paths to truth. You have your path, I have my path, you’ve a devotional path, I’ve a ritualistic path, paths of various kinds: Christian path, Islamic path, Hindu path, Tibetan path. Which means path leading to a goal. The goal you call truth or the Buddha or some other. A path implies a goal which is fixed. Right? Is truth fixed, is truth stationary, non- dynamic, static, or something tremendously alive? That which is greatly alive has no path. How can you have a path to something which moves, lives, changes, vital, full of something else? Therefore there are no paths to truth. Be clear about it, then you won’t be caught in a trap.”

“Complete freedom is to have that limitless space. The brain is extraordinarily capable, infinite capacity, but we have made it so small and petty. So when there is that space and emptiness and therefore immense energy – energy is passion, love and compassion and intelligence – then there is that truth which is most holy, most sacred; that which man has sought from time immemorial. And that truth doesn’t lie in any temple, in any mosque, in any church. And it has no path to it except through one’s own understanding of oneself, enquiring, studying, learning. Then there is that which is eternal.”

J. Krishnamurti

Krishnamurti defines religion as gathering all one’s energy to find truth of life. What is the truth of life? Again, the word truth is used with many different meanings in different contexts. Truth by itself, truth about something, logical truth in the sense of true and false. Tradition recognises various paths to truth as the ultimate destination of life. But Krishnamurti maintains that there is no path to truth. The purpose of this workshop is to explore what is truth and why there can be no path to it. How does one differentiate between actuality, reality and truth? What does it mean to see truth in the false? Are there two truths, one absolute and the other relative? Why does truth act like a poison if not implemented in one’s life? How does one prepare oneself to receive truth? What are the obstacles in realising the truth? All such and many more related questions will be explored in this workshop. Participants can also ask their questions. Selections from Krishnamurti’s works related to the theme will be provided as reading material to each participant. Also links to the relevant videos of Krishnamurti will be provided. Each participant is expected to devote these two days fully to the study in order to benefit maximum from this workshop.
